my sincere apologies to those who have been waiting and wanting to see the pics from my china trip (or maybe no one is really waiting and wanting :p). my mum is still in china with joyce, and the cam is with her. so we'll all have to wait till 20th june to see the pics ^.^ they shld be quite lovely. especially the night sights at Wai Tan in Shanghai.
hmm... why not i amuse you first with a little encounter i had in wuxi? yes, i think i shall do that. it's an interesting experience, one that i will not care to have again. and if i ever see those ppl again, i will slap them so hard they fly to mexico (actually i dont have that courage ^0^ but im just using this to show how angry i am with them).
so, who is "them"?
"them" are the hair stylists in a salon in wuxi. me, jamei and joyce were walkin out of a shop in Nan Chan Si called Kawaii, when this boy approached us. he was dressed v.hiphoppishly and although obviously older than me, i'll still call him a boy.
he was promoting this salon that he worked for, and apparently, they are having a promotion period, offering a haircut at RMB30, which is S$6. i thot it was pretty good, and it so happens me and jamie both needed a haircut. so when he offered to give us a tour of the super high tech lookin shop, i agreed and we went in.
Mistake No.1.
As we went in, we chatted and i revealed we were from Singapore on vacation.
Mistake No.2. (PRCs have this thing with foreigners apparently. they are what they call the "big fishes". you know. ppl with lots of money. which is, unfortunately, not true in my case becoz i left the hotel that day with onlt RMB300.)
We were greeted warmly by the other hair stylists with all sorts of coloured hair and crazy hairstyles. this was a sign that this isnt a decent shop, but i decided to trust them and not judge a book by its cover and a shop by its people.
Mistake No.3. (my wuxi fren told me afterwards that young boys in coloured hair and crazy styles is a first sign that the shop is not decent -.-)
Anyway, we were led to the second storey, which was quite empty, and told to sit down first and have a drink. we were all thirsty at that time and gladly took a seat.
Mistake No.4. (in china, when they tell you to "sit down first and have a drink", it's an excuse to keep you in the shop for as long as possible so they can brainwash you into giving them business by pumping you with highly technical and professional sounding talks that are actually just a load of bull wind.
But being innocent me, i took a seat and had a cup of water. before i knew it, a stylist was standing behind me and analysing my face shape and telling me which haircut would suit me better. whoo. putting aside all hatred and bad experience, he was one good lookin guy. honestly, i nearly choked on my water. he could be a movie star~!
bleh. too bad he turned out to be such a dirty flirt and not half as honest as an average conman. anyway, back to the story...
so he told me how he could improve my hair style and then asked if me and my sister would like to wash our hair. you know, with professional TLC. i thot it would be funny to give it a try, coz i thot a hairwash would cost RMB30 max. so we went for it.
Mistake No.5. (it's like fish and bait situation, except that i dont know it. they just kept leading me one step further and further, until i no longer know whether i wanted this in the first place and who started all these.)
Good news is, i didn't make any more mistakes after that.
Coz there simply was no turning back.
I had sunk too deep into their little plot. And by the end of 4hrs in their rotten stinkin salon, i had choked up a debt of RMB1000+.
it's not like i wanted to. i swear i had no intention to do my hair. and to hell with a new hairstyle and new look. my hair looks exactly the same as before, except it's now filthy with rubbish chemicals that cost a bomb, and R-E-B-O-N-D-E-D. (hmm is there a spelling error?).
whoo.
after all those talks and styling.
gosh i was expecting something more glam n unexpected than THIS.
i mean, it's not bad lookin, but i got cheated alright.
so, i committed the 5 mistakes that no one shld EVER commit in china, and ended up paying a fortune for it. but good thing is, dad ganged up with his millionaire fren in wuxi and they forced the boss of the salon to cough up most of the money we paid, until we only had to pay RMB400 = S$80.
still alot. but what to do. my fault.
dad says im naive but he's just too kind to say im stupid. mum says i dont know how to reject ppl, so i got pushed around in the shop.
worse thing was, i had to cancel my appointment with my wuxi fren that aftnn due to that 4hrs hair treatment that stinks to high heavens. and i didn't get to meet my fren AT ALL for those 2 days i stayed in wuxi.
you can see why i hate those hooligans now. oh yea, and that suave hair stylist? he wanted my number but i didnt give him due to prior experience with bad boys. thats perhaps the only good thing i did. so he gave me his, and i was supposed to call him when i get back to Singapore.
AS IF.
i deleted your stupid number, you big fat liar from hell.
take that!!
*throws shoe*
so, to all my lovely innocent frens out there, i know many of you wouldn't make the same mistakes as me, but just take note from my experience.
DO NOT get involved with such ppl in china.
And ALWAYS judge a book by its cover and a shop by its people, in china.
Have a nice day! (:
