13.6.06
after a wk of home quarantine, i finally went out with jamie, sixuan and minnie to watch CARS. whoo it was awesome, as haowen said.
KA-CHOW!! it was dead funny. the show i mean. and touching as well. i cant believe i nearly gave it a miss becoz i had misconceptions abt it. it just goes to show you never know until you try. so anyway, sixuan and minnie were
late as usual. even though they live so near to J8. bahh.! hah yea so we ended up buying the 16.10 show tix, which was the original plan, but i thot watchin the 15.40 show would be better coz it'll end earlier. but no, coz sixuan needed time to buy "
popcorns popcorns, my popcorns!". haha! so yea, we bought the tix and headed to a gift shop to buy her friend stephanie a prezzie. then, finally realising we're running out of time, we headed to the neoprint shop. nth much happened there, except the two gorillas next to me and jamie were makin a hell lot of noise >.<
then when we were decorating the pics, sixuan was reminded once again of her
popcorns. so she was like MY POPCORNS MY POPCORNS! OMG IS THERE TIME FOR MY POPCORNS!!? T_TI swear sixuan is the craziest girl i know. tied in place with her darrling cousin minnie. hahas so me and sixuan headed over to the popcorn counter while minnie and jamie continued decorating. we waited at the empty counter for a pretty long time until someone finally came to take orders. sixuan bought this combo with the cow container, and she was like saying she loves cows. and then we talked abt Ma Mi Moo. ohh and did you know that show is a jap show? apparently so, coz the title of the show, MA MI MOO, is actually the first 3 syllabus of the jap language or sth. sixuan shld know, coz she learns jap.
so anyway, we went back to the neoprint shop, and waddaya know... the neos were only just printing. they came out of the slot, jamie grabbed them, and we whooshed to the entrance of the cinema.
the tickets, the tickets!! sixuan was screaming in hysteria.
here, here!! i screamed back, yanking out the tickets from my bag.
together, we scrambled down the stairs, and guess wad, i forgot to gave the tickets. so the lady was like, excuse me, where are your tickets? -_____-" we must've looked like a bunch of messy-haired idiots tryin to sneak into the cinema. but hello, it's not like i forgot to give! the lady just stood there when i passed and she didnt ask for any tickets, so i thot they'll be collecting the tix only when we reach the entrance of the hall. anyway.
yea the movie was good. and the two gorillas from the neoprint shop must've sneaked in with me and jamie, coz throughout the show they were chortling with laughter and screaming when Frankie the monster machine was chasing Lightning in the tractor field. honestly, our area in the threatre had gone haywire then @_@
oh well. jamie and i had to rush home after the movie coz i forgot to tell daddy we'll be goin out and returning for dinner. on bus 156, i slept all the way and told jamie to wake me up when we reach KAP. but of coz, 156 doesnt reach there, stupid. so i was woken up in sixth avenue, and we were like panicking for a split second, and i was like complaining and whining to nobody coz i just woke up.
we took bus 171 back home and we had to stand coz too many ppl. hahaha jamie was so funny larr. she was so desperate to get a seat, she was practically racing with some other random ppl to get to empty seats first. like, first someone gets up to leave, then you can see two or three ppl pushing their way past other passengers to get to the seat. jamie's face was like bloated with determination, but i pulled her back and told her nvm. if singaporeans have no sympathy to give a seat to a thriteen yr old, then no point vying with them for the seat. anyway, thanks jamie, i know you wanted to fight for that seat so i can sit down and sleep ^0^
so we stood all the way, and i noticed this causasian mother and her ten or eleven yr old son. she was telling him abt wad his form tchr said abt him not reading enough. and she was patiently analysing what he shld do and what he's doin wrong currently. and then she went on to tell him one of his classmates, Sheila, complimented him on his fabulous tennis skills. he looked really pleased and said proudly, "Ohh
that time! I wasnt even playin my best then. I was just like pow, pow, pow..."
then they talked abt marriage! like, whoa, singaporean parents wld just tell their kids, "You'll understand when you grow up." But no, this caucasian mum was like telling his son if she had married another man, he wouldnt be here and stuff. and then they dsicussed a rather philosophical qn abt marriage (couldnt hear what they were sayin at that point of time). and though the mum was visibly tired, coz she yawned and stuff, but she kept engaging her son in interesting topics, and he was really eager to talk abt things.
i thot this is really good for mum and son, coz this is called communication, and the son becomes more confident and thinks more through these talks with a grown up. maybe thats the difference between western countries and singapore? maybe thats why we're not creative enough? coz since young, we have been "shut up" by our parents, becoz they were too busy to talk, too tired to communicate with us, and any question we ask will have the same answer, "You'll know when you grow up."
Yeah, we do find out eventually, but not through parents, but through friends and the Internet, which is not the most reliable source of information. and they're complaining abt youths havin wrong moral values and screwing around? who were the ones who didnt curb the prob when they had a chance?
well, i think im lucky that my parents still listen to me when i have sth to say, and they're startin to give me advice on how my future bf shld be like. he shld be hardworking, equal IQ and EQ, good with housework, enjoy sports (not neccessarily good at them), understand the meaning of communication... blah blah blah.
in short, someone like my dad -.-"
hahaha! but honestly, i think my mum found herself a good catch. and vice versa. both of them were pretty popular in school in those days. so mum's been tryin to nurture me into a traditional girl, good at housework and organised around the hse. and dad's been training me to be independent and hardworking. to them, these are strong virtues that a girl shld have. ahh well. i think i forgot to mention to them that such a "virtuous" girl by their standards are not very much appreciated in the modern society. guys are lookin out for hot and chic babes who know how to have fun and take life easy. of coz, eventually, the guys still end up hooking up with a decent girl for life, but when's that? when they're old and working? thirty? forty?
but still, i believe in my parents, and i will train myself to be what they would think a girl shld be like. i dont care if the modern society doesnt appreciate traditions and culture. i have friends who can be considered as virtuous by modern standards, and i have seen them being thrown around by guys becoz they're not hot/glam/popular enough or sth.
they stink! the guys, i mean. i think that if a guy doesnt recognise how precious a "virtuous girl" is, then he's not a guy worth loving. my lovely girl frens, im proud to have you as my frens, becoz all of you hold the traditional values and morals that a girl shld have, and for that, i raise my glass of admiration to you.
CHEERS!
