", you dont have to be cool to rule my world."

woohoo.
end of second wk.
have some reflections to share now.

after 2wks in burnside, i have realised two things abt the education in NZ:
1) It is very coordinated and - um - same in every school.
As in, every school in Christchurch, and possibly other cities in NZ, learn the same syllabus, do the same sort of practise papers, use the same kinds of textbooks, and adopt the same system of recording results.

it's not like in singapore whereby better schools like raffles are independent and no one outside really knows what kind of practise papers they doing and the students are not allowed to pass on the papers to their tuition tchrs or whatever.
all that secrecy and i-want-to-get-top-Olevel-results rubbish.

here, you can grab any friend from any school and ask them abt ur homework, and they'll know what you're talking abt, coz chances are she'll be going the same thing.
nice(:

2) in terms of content, depth and exposure, the education here isn't as good as in singapore.

like i rmb in singapore, during chinese lessons, we would watch cultural films, listen to old but brilliant chinese poem songs (like that liang shan bo thingy), discuss ancient and modern chinese issues etc.
here, it's all very on-the-surface.
math doesnt feel so in-depth and challenging, even though im doing one level higher.

i rmb in mr khoo's class, i used to go in feeling pretty calm and relaxed, and come out with my mind spinning and math formulas blinking in front of my eyes.
the curriculum is that heavy.

i think that's what makes schooling in singapore so stressful.
it's the amount and the depth of content.
here, it's pretty results driven too.
like they have this NCEA (kindda like O levels?) every yr from yr11-13 (our sec 4-JC2), so u can just imagine having to do O levels every yr for 3 consecutive yrs.

but it's not that intense for the students coz u can pass with both eyes closed.
it's getting excellence that is difficult.
but still.
it shows how tough it is in singapore.
we have one O level and we're groaning for mercy to high heavens above.

if i wont be forced to take science in singapore, and if they provide a wider range of subject choices, i think i'd much rather be in singapore.
i feel like my brain is deteoriating here, if i could use that word this way.

but anyway(:
im here now, and nth's gonna change that, so might as well make the best out of my situation!

yayy weekends ^0^
praise and worship night tmr with YAG and WAG!!
it'll be brilliant, i hope(:
everybody be high and sway your hands!!! whee~~~

went to ask abt tennis today with vicky.
apparently it's been cancelled for this term and wont resume until term4, which by when we'll be busy with exams.
so i guess that's it for joining tennis.

as for dance, it seems to be only for pro ppl, so vicky and i decided we'll just join the church dance club, which isnt very pro but we learn new dances every 2mths or so.
so it's all cool(:

but now im left without any activitiy to join! ><
of coz one last option is film club, but there hasnt been any notices abt it and i think making films whole yr for competitions is... kindda boring?
especially if i have to do video editing.
urrghh.
had enough of that in ny.

so im just looking forward to term 2 and 3 now, when winter sports will be in play.
then i can join badminton with vicky!
cool...can improve more and defeat superpig.
HAHH right...

anyway vincent was asking me the other (in sms) why issit that jamie and i always seem unwilling to play with him.
i told him honestly that it's coz he's way too pro and it's such a challenge for us to play with him that there's almost a pressure.
but he insisted it was coz he looks scary and ugly ><

now come to think abt it, it's isnt just abt him being pro.
it's him being pro AND being slack when playing with us.
like, he'll play with that air of laziness around him and u just know u're boring him..
it's kindda disrespectful and sucky for us, coz we sort of get discouraged.
and for me, i like to give my oponents some sort of fight, but whenever i play with him, i only create fights for myself.
so like... STOP BEING SUCH A SUPERMAN, VINCENT HUANG!!
>~<

superpig is nice, i like playing with that kid.
but he doesnt talk in real life, and neither do i.
hahh so we're only virtual friends :P

okie dokes gonna change comp account now... need to type and print out some stuffs for my employer...
sheesh when am i ever gonna quit...
